What if I don't own my own domain?back to top

FilterMySpam does not work with internet email accounts such as Hotmail, Yahoo or Gmail.

Our filtering sevice only works with domains where we can change the routing of email so it passes through our servers before being sent onto you. This means you must have access or authority to change your DNS (Domain Name Server) settings.

How to setup Outlookback to top

Creating a new "spam" message rule — Outlook

  1. Login to Outlook
  2. Create a new message folder called ***SPAM***
  3. Go to TOOLS menu and select RULES WIZARD
  4. Click on the NEW button
  5. Highlight CHECK MESSAGES WHEN THEY ARRIVE and click on NEXT
  6. Selelct WITH SPECIFIC WORDS IN THE SUBJECT
  7. Click on the SPECIFIC WORDS link and add:
    ***SPAM***
    This must be entered exactly as seen here, making sure there are no spaces before or after the text. Click OK to close the pop-up box and then click NEXT
  8. Highlight MOVE IT TO THE SPECIFIED FOLDER
  9. Click on the SPECIFIED link and select the new folder called ***SPAM***. If you have not already created a new folder you can do so at this stage. Once you have selected the new ***SPAM*** folder, click OK to close the pop-up box and then click NEXT
  10. Click NEXT again — you should now be at the end of the "wizard" process
  11. Enter a name for the new rule, e.g. Spam, and then click FINISH
  12. Ensure the new SPAM rule is the first rule in the rules list
  13. Click OK to close the Rules Wizard

All email received that is marked as "spam" will be automatically moved from your Inbox into the new ***SPAM*** folder when it arrives.

Spam email not correctly marked as spam - Outlookback to top
If you have received an email that has not been successfully marked as spam you will need to send us the spam email with all of its original "header" information.

The email address to forward the spam message to is:  spam@arepo.com. Please see below for instructions on how to send us the information we need.

A confirmation email will be sent to you confirming that the spam email that was not blocked as been added to our spam database.

To ensure that we receive the offending email with all of its original header information in tact, please use the following forwarding procedures:

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Go to TOOLS menu and select OPTIONS
  3. On the GENERAL tab select EMAIL OPTIONS
  4. Go to WHEN FORWARDING A MESSAGE and from the pull-down list select
    ATTACH ORIGINAL MESSAGE
  5. Click OK
  6. Click APPLY and then OK to close the OPTIONS window

Once you have changed Outlook so email will be forwarded as an attachment, you can then forward the spam email to spam@arepo.com.

Please note: this change will affect all email when using the FORWARD option.

Email INCORRECTLY marked as spam - Outlookback to top
If you have received an email that has been incorrectly marked as spam you will need to send us the incorrectly marked spam email with all of its original "header" information.

The email address to forward the spam message to is:  ham@arepo.com. Please see below for instructions on how to send us the information we need.

A confirmation email will be sent to you confirming that the email incorrectly marked as spam has been removed from our spam database.

To ensure that we receive the offending email with all of its original header information in tact, please do either of the following:

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Go to TOOLS menu and select OPTIONS
  3. On the GENERAL tab select EMAIL OPTIONS
  4. Go to WHEN FORWARDING A MESSAGE and from the pull-down list select
    ATTACH ORIGINAL MESSAGE
  5. Click OK
  6. Click APPLY and then OK to close the OPTIONS window

  1. Login to Outlook Express
  2. Create a new message folder called ***SPAM***
  3. Go to TOOLS menu, select MESSAGE RULES and then select MAIL
  4. Click on the NEW button
  5. In Section 1:
    Select WHERE THE SUBJECT LINE CONTAINS SPECIFIC WORDS
  6. In Section 2:
    Select MOVE IT TO THE SPECIFIED FOLDER
  7. In Section 3:
    Click on the CONTAINS SPECIFIC WORDS link and add:
    ***SPAM***
    This must be entered exactly as seen here, making sure there are no spaces before or after the text.
  8. In Section 3:
    Click on the SPECIFIED link and select the new folder called ***SPAM***. If you have not already created a new folder you can do so at this stage. Once you have selected the new ***SPAM*** folder, click OK to close the pop-up box
  9. In Section 4:
    Enter a name for the new rule, e.g. Spam, and then click OK
  10. Ensure the new SPAM rule is the first rule in the rules list
  11. Click OK to close the Message Rules window

If you use another email client such as Thunerbird, please use the Outlook equivalent of "message rules", e.g. "message filters" with the following options:

  1. Create a new folder called ***SPAM***
  2. Create a new message filter to MOVE all messages received which have ***SPAM*** in the subject field to the new ***SPAM*** folder
  3. Ensure the SPAM rule is the first rule in the filter list

Please refer to the help documentation for your specific email client for further assistance.
